Travel within Spain
Bulls run through the streets of Pamplona, chasing the ghost of Hemingway. Madrid lives at night. Barcelona, Granada, Cordoba, Seville -- cities full of cultural treasures, demanding to be explored. To the south the Mediterranean Sea, to the north the Atlantic Ocean. Inland, back from the coast, rolling vine-covered countryside gives way to orange and olive groves planted on vast open plains which stretch to soaring mountains. Spain, is a land of contrasts. Y Viva Espana!
Madrid: A City Like No Other!
Situated at 2,120 feet above sea level, Madrid is Europe's highest capital city. Summers are hot (July- August, very!) and Winters are cool/cold. The city is famous for its renowned Museums: El Prado, Thyssen, Reina Sofia (my favourite) and its wonderful nightlife. Visit in June and stroll forever around the late night tapas bars and cafes -- they're open and busy until 4:00 am!

I love Madrid and visit it regularly -- but then, (lucky me) -- my sister lives there!

Granada
The Parador de Granada is a unique luxury hotel set in the middle of Spain's fabled Alhambra Palace Gardens. The open central courtyard, reminiscent of another age, leads on to leaded windows overlooking shrubs and fountains. Airy, tastefully decorated rooms are filled with antique furniture, and the discreet but friendly service is impeccable. To spend a night there is to be part of history. A dream.

Run with the Bulls
Pamplona inspired Ernest Hemingway to write his first successful novel, The Sun Also Rises. Situated in Navarra, in the north of Spain, it is 158 km from Bilbao and 92 km from San Sebastian. During the Fiesta of San Fermin - between the 7th and 14th of July - the bulls run every morning at 8:00 am. A sport best left to the locals! The informative Pamplona Town Council Website is excellent and worth exploring.

Can You Keep A Secret?
Lying in the rolling countryside just behind Barcelona, L'Alt Penedes is truly a traveler's dream. Look at the selection of wonderful houses to rent on this official site promoting rural tourism. Choose one - they are all working farms (wine) - and enjoy a great vacation. But please, DON'T tell your friends. Let's keep this one quiet. This is Spanish Spain!

Sun, Sea and Marbella
The hot resort on Spain's Mediterranean coast. Ferraris, yachts, golf, discos, stunning villas, bustle, restaurants and beautiful people. Best to visit in early Spring. Forget the slapped up modern buildings and take time to sit at a bar in the old town - the Orange Square dates from 1485 - and contemplate how wonderful life can be. Sardines grilled on a wood fire on the beach at midnight (a Marbella speciality) are pretty good, too!

Learn Spanish in Spain
The best way to learn a language is to live it. International Educational Services (I.E.S.) is based in Valencia - famous for succulent oranges and authentic paella. Study in your teacher's home or at your hotel. All conversations are in Spanish and same-fee classes are scheduled all year round.
