Our Favorite Luxury Cruises Websites
Crowded airports, surly gate personnel, overworked flight attendants... Sound familiar? Let's continue: Expensive gas, long hours in the car to get to your destination, luxurious -- but limiting -- hotels and resorts...

Ah... enter the world of Luxury Cruising, where you unpack once, and are treated to six-star service and attention to detail that you would never receive elsewhere. Add to that the ability to travel to several destinations on the same trip, gourmet cuisine, wines, spa services and staterooms or suites to rival the best landbased hotel rooms, and you have a REAL vacation.

These cruises are not for everyone, but here we will explore the best of the best, the cruises that appeal to the discriminating traveler who doesn't want to take a vacation to recover from the one just taken.

Radisson Seven Seas Cruises
This site is a Best of the Net, and the cruises and ships are at the top of their class. Radisson Seven Seas offers six ships which include the specialized 188 passenger MS Hanseatic (Arctic exploration cruises) and the brand new, all-suite all-balcony 700 passenger Mariner. The site is informative, easy to navigate, and provides many photos, descriptions, itineraries and specials.

Seabourn Cruises
Seabourn's largest ship, the Seabourn Sun, carries 758 passengers in unparalleled luxury; the smallest, which the line calls "casual luxury yachts," carry 116 each, all in beautifully appointed suites. You can view photos, deck plans, itineraries and more.

Silversea Cruises
Silverseas' four small ships feature all-suite accommodation, with more than 75% of them having private teak verandas. The newest, Silver Shadow (inaugural in July, 2001) and Silver Whisper which launched in September, 2000, accommodate 382 guests while the elegant yacht-like Silver Sea and Silver Wind accommodate just 296 "pampered guests."

Look at deck plans, suite layouts, read the press releases about Bulgari amenities, and be sure to have a tissue handy because you will certainly drool.

Crystal Cruises
With only two ships, the Harmony and the Symphony, this "little" line has made a big name for itself.

The ships each carry a maximum number of just under 1,000 passengers; even the smallest inside stateroom measures a generous 180 square feet, and each stateroom has a full bath with tub.

The line has commissioned a new ship which will be delivered in 2003. In the meantime, take a peek at the two ships currently in service. You can book online; several specials are offered.

Cunard Line
Cunard... the name sounds like pure luxury, doesn't it? Cunard's QE2 is probably the most famous ship in the world... and she certainly is the only ship that continues to make round-trip journeys from New York to Southampton on a regular basis.

Two newsflashes: The lines' second ship, the Caronia, is the Vistafjord reborn, a small luxury liner with capacity for only 660 passengers and an itinerary that includes Europe, Canada/New England and South America.

And... Cunard has commissioned a third, larger ship, the Queen Mary 2, making her debut in late 2003 with a passenger capacity of 2,620 guests.
