Our Favorite Australian Gardening Websites
What is it that makes Aussie gardeners different? We garden upside down, we have summery Christmases and wintery July's, we measure in metric not imperial. We have plants that many others have never heard about! Ferns and grasses that are actually trees, for instance.
Global Garden
Australia's first online Magazine. Check out the Garden Basics for beginners which you can reach from a link about halfway down the page. These are good resources for old and new gardeners.

Backyard Rainforests Large or Small
The plants are Australian but the theory is Global is a quote from their front page and they take this seriously with good articles on every stage of setting up your own rainforest and throwing away the lawnmower.

Australian National Botanic Gardens
The Australian National Botanic Gardens' website will definitely draw you in. Start wandering down the page at the various options and you are sure to find some things to check out. You'll soon get lost among the different articles. While this site is not strong on graphics the info is terrific!

Society for Growing Australian Plants
If you want to find out about some of Australia's major plant species groups and weed species, or view picture galleries of Aussie plants, then you're in the right place! It's all here. Plus links to state groups with even more information at your fingertips.

Honest Dirt
It's unusual for me to say that a site really impresses me but I keep going back to this one. It's a good place to start for just about anything to do with gardening.

Australian Gardening Forums/Discussion Groups

Garden Web Australia
Not one but a series of Forums for Gardeners in Australia. Separate forums for natives, Roses, Trees and Shrubs, Pests and Diseases, and a Garden Exchange. Try it out!

Your guide's Austgardens Discussion Group
A good medium size group of Australian gardeners (about 50) who regularly swap questions for answers about anything done in Australian gardens. From veggies to trees. Postings range from 17-135 in a month, depending on discussions.

Please allow me a little bias here, as I own this group. Good people, good garden talk. To subscribe you can join via the link in the top right hand corner or by sending a blank email to austgardens-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
