Who is not interested in diamonds?
Diamondsafe.com provides an insight into the astonishing world of diamonds. The favorable conditions for its formation are 120 to 193 kilometers below the surface and date back to 2.5 million years. Volcanic eruptions forced these up through kimberlitic pipes, and working these pipes at depth can reach 1.06 kilometers below the surface. To get a yield of one carat of diamond, more than 200 tons of blasted rock is crushed and processed.
