Time-Saving Answers to Your Homemaking Questions
Since giving birth to my two children, I have found it nearly impossible to choose a good book, find some peace and quiet, and curl up to read it from start to finish. I have, however, managed to find some great magazines featuring short book reviews on current bestsellers, tips on how to get my kids to sleep through the night, and how to add curl ups to my exercise routine. Ah... how my life has changed!

Home and Living magazines have become my best friends. They keep me entertained in the car while playing chauffeur for the kids; they offer last minute ideas for gifts and meals when company's coming; they show me 25 ways to brighten my kitchen, and they also suggest 10 ways to find inner peace. The best part? I can pick them up and put them down at my leisure without having to re-read the last chapter to familiarize myself with the plot. (They're also cheaper than finding a therapist!)

So, here goes! On this page, you'll find my favorite Home and Living subscription magazines - they may be yours, too!

Family Circle Magazine
If you're a homemaker on a tight budget, don't forget to add Family Circle Magazine to your list of must-haves! This magazine is full of money-saving, time-saving articles as well as "how-to's" on almost every subject.

Focusing on the entire "family" is the biggest advantage Family Circle has over most other magazines. They cover every topic imaginable on babies, toddlers, teens, young adults, middle-age, and senior citizens; the advice is positive, as well as timeless. One of my favorite articles was "Help: Clutter Free at Last! 50 Tips for Pack Rats and Procrastinators" by Adeline McConnell. The only thing she forgot to mention was what to do with all my old copies of Family Circle!

Woman's Day Magazine
Looking for ideas on parenting, home decorating, quick recipes, and health, with a touch of inspiration thrown in for good measure? For more than 64 years, Woman's Day has been offering home solutions, advice and stories of personal triumph to enlighten homemakers worldwide. Besides that, you just gotta love a magazine that gives you a delicious recipe for Pumpkin Cheesecake Mousse Pie in the same issue as an article on how to "walk off weight" with a free diet booklet!

Woman's Day also pays for published letters, photographs, and articles online, though they regret they cannot acknowledge or return submissions.

Good Housekeeping Magazine
Rounding out my top choices of Home and Living Magazines is Good Housekeeping. This magazine is geared more toward savvy consumerism and many people are probably most familiar with the "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval." Since 1909, it has been a "highly recognized statement of the magazine's renowned Consumers' Policy."

The Good Housekeeping Consumers' Policy, published in every issue of the magazine, states that if a product bearing the Seal proves to be defective within two years of purchase, Good Housekeeping will replace the product or refund the purchase price. That's the kind of deal I can live with!
